America's Army 2.x vs 3.0 Comparisons
Written by [GA]Homey, 13.11.2008 at 22:40.
The America’s Army development team has released some screenshots of their upcoming next-generation release AA3. The images are unique in that they compare similar images from the current game and the highly anticipated new version, AA3.

These images demonstrate a dramatic improvement in the graphic and lighting qualities in AA3 which utilizes the popular Unreal 3 engine. In each of the comparison images, the current version (America’s Army: Special Forces (Overmatch)) is to the right, and the soon to be released new version is to the left.

Fans of the game, which boasts more than 9 million registered players, will quickly recognize the images to be from the Pipeline mission. Pipeline is one of the most popular of the 46 exciting missions to be found in America’s Army. Notice in all the images the extraordinary level of detail and realism the developers have created in the new version.

Check out the new and official comparison-screenshots here in the first post of this news Article or in our gallery!

Stay tuned for more Updates and Screenshots from America's Army 3.0 within the next weeks and months!

Due to certain issues some of our community members may experience with the Deploy Client, our Providers are now offering America's Army: Special Forces (Overmatch) v2.8.4 as a direct download. Please visit our updated downloads page, and click on any of the Providers' links. You will have the option of either downloading the Deploy Client, or the direct executable file.

We are working hard to try and get you the game as quickly as possible, so that you can jump back in the action. We appreciate your patience, and thank you for your loyal support.

Source: http://forum.americasarmy.com/viewtopic.php?t=285360

I would like to add that I would be very happy if you give the new Deploy-Client a chance and don't talk too bad about it! We all were a little bit too upset at the beginning (including me), just because of a few temporary problems that should get fixed soon.

The new Deploy-Client is very important for the future of America's Army! We all have to use it sooner or later! So please help the Army and Pragmatic to improve the Deploy-Client and get the problems sorted out!

It's really not bad at all and many popular games use Tools like this and I am myself very happy that we finally get a great tool like this and I know it is a step into the right direction! It just needs a little bit more time and your support! They purposely picked a release far in advance of AA3 so that they can iron out all of the issues!

So please ... give the Deploy-Client a chance and help them to improve it!

Try out the new Deploy-Client and don't get rid of it if it doesn't work yet! If you have problems report them, feedback is also always very welcome! Help them to improve it so that they can make everyone happy! They are working very hard to get it working and make you happy! A new Version of the Deploy-Client (v1.22) was already released today for autoupdate or direct-download. And if it still doesn't work ... download the 2.8.3.1 to 2.8.4 Patch manually. You can get it now in our Download-Area or one of the Official Download Partners.

Thank you for your loyal support!

Lock and load Soldiers,

a new SitRep was posted on americasarmy.com with some interesting news about the upcoming patch for Americas Army!

Successful completion of the ES2 training will allow players to accrue points for correctly identifying and reporting suspicious objects within the ES2 Border Co-operative Multiplayer level.

New Map (ES2 Border):
ES2 Border is a medium-sized village environment with lots of places for insurgents to hide. Intelligence has identified this village as a hotbed for hostile activity and the likely source of IEDs used in recent attacks.

We also got news about the AADeploy Client, which will be released with the new patch:

AAOTracker.com » Battletracker.com
Written by [GA]Homey, 08.09.2008 at 15:38.
Hey,

since the merge of our Battlefield, Call of Duty and QuakeWars websites into a single website called http://battletracker.com I am receiving a lot of mails from AOT Members if we also want to merge our AAOTracker.com now with Battletracker.com too. Specially since we have made AAO-Stats available there ...

Basicly we did not had any plans to do this, but then more mails I receive from people who would like this idea to have all stats and services available on a single website, then more we think about the idea to merge both websites and transfer our AOT Stuff and Services to Battletracker.com. A decision was not made yet and I would like to know how you guys think about it !?

For sure, the current AOT Website works fine and basicly you have everything you need here, but it's an "old" website which contains code and stuff which is more then 5 years old. Many things have changed in the last years, we have new Internet-Browsers with new technologies and many other improved stuff. Battletracker.com is a brand new "Web 2.0" website, using the latest technologies to make pages loading faster, looking better and making it much more user friendly for users.

Like already said, the current website works fine but it's also very old and not very easy for us to update something or to add new features. Too many stuff which was coded too dirty years ago. So if we should decide to keep this AOT Website like it is, you can not expect many more updates or new features here on this website. On Battletracker.com you would have the chance again to get many new features and services that we can not offer here.

And that's what I want to know from you! Are you happy with the current site and want to keep it like it is for the next years or would you like some 'fresh wind' and new features ? Basicly you would not lose anything. We would transfer all user-, forum, player and clan-data and all features and services that you know from here, would be available on Battletracker.com too! Services like Serverlist, Buddylist, Player- and Clanstats, Toplists and our whole forums would be available there too. Just looking better and more features would be available there too in the future. So you would not miss or lose anything and also get new stuff! We also could prepare everything for the upcoming Army 3.0 game there too. Here on this "old" website it could get very complicated to 'add' a new game ...

So again: You would not lose anything and keep your accounts, stats, forum posts and everything you have here. But you would have the chance again to get more stats, an improved sig-banner system for better Player-, Clan- and Serverbanners, more Homepage tools, Clan-Guestbooks, ClanWar Calender, more detailed server-, player- and clan-history, a much more user friendly forum-software, support for different languages, an player award system and many many other stuff that you would like!

What do you think ??? It's up to you!

News on Beta timeframe and first look at AA3
Written by [GA]Riddler1942, 05.09.2008 at 22:31.
quote:
I’d like to take a few minutes to give you all a brief SITREP on AA3 and address a rumor about a September 2008 release date. Although AA3 will not be released this month, the good news is that we are getting very close to a Beta release date. I can say with confidence that a Beta release will occur this winter and the game is looking fabulous. Which brings me to the next issue which is our Beta Tester program. We’ve decided to expand our existing program to include many of our most loyal fans including competitive and long time players, active forum and irc members, and last but not least an open invitation for Beta team applicants which we’ll announce on this website. Recently, Soldier magazine ran a front page article on the Army and gaming in which AA featured prominently. As part of that news article, a few images from AA3 development that were used in the article were released on various .mil websites that certain eagle-eyed members of the community have found. One of the shots is a view of a tent city that will become one of our UI backgrounds. I stated earlier that this is a photoshop mock up. This is not entirely accurate, I was erring on the side of caution at the time because I can't tell you what in that image was from in-game and what is a Photoshop effect. This screenshot is taken directly from the game, and I can assure you that there has been no Photoshop magic worked upon it.

America’s Army 3.0
Written by [GA]Riddler1942, 02.09.2008 at 20:04.
Phillip Bossant Executive producer of the America’s Army Public Applications Team

quote:
“America’s Army 3.0” will also expand realism within game play. “In everything a player does, from the training phases to mission play, there are consequences for their actions,” Bossant said. For example, a player may choose to take on a mission without additional training, but his game play will not be as effective as that of a player who perfected the training phases. Or a player will be able to choose which gear to don, but if he chooses the maximum amount of gear, he will move slower than a player who doesn’t.

Photoshopped Concept Art (Not an InGame Screenshot!):

quote:
Bossant also said that with the release of the new game, there would be a release schedule so players know what updates are coming and when they’ll take effect. This not only allows players to foresee scheduled enhancement, it gives them an opportunity to train in the game, to be prepared to take advantage of new missions, roles and capabilities.
